This area (Irondale area of the Tri Area) has the highest platted density in the region, and some of the densest build-out, as well. The population of the area is currently over 4,500 people and is growing rapidly.
The County is considering designating the area as a UGA to allow it accept more of Jefferson County’s share of required GMA population increases and a valid petition for incorporation has been filed.
A new K-2 Elementary School is under construction this year to address the rapidly increasing population.
Park would have been targeted for purchase and included in adopted CFP, but it was not expected to become available at this time.
