Spanish-built Nylon-string Classical guitar from Madrid and Requinto from Ecuador
- Rosewood Classical Guitar. Casa A. Fernandez, 1963, made in Madrid, Spain. Brazilian Rosewood body, Engelmann Spruce top, Ebony fingerboard and bridge.
Simple clean player's guitar. Very light construction. Powerful lower courses, surprisingly strong G string.
Very nice rosette, and minimalist finish (thin French polish).
< The wood is not intesely figured, but there are no cracks and there is virtually no fret-wear, and very little sign of use.

I do not use high tension strings on this guitar, out of respect. Previous owner was a legend in the northwest arts community, but not a guitarist.
Minor fingernail marks on face. Deserves a much better case.
- Requinto from Ecuador

This Ecuadoran Requinto is definitely a "national treasure" level instrument.
I took it to a PSGW fall retreat a few months after I bought it, and a young musicologist from Ecuador who was at the retreat was quite upset that it was in the US in a private collection, rather than in Ecuador in a museum. He nearly demanded that I repatriate it, since he was certain that no one was alive who could make such an instrument today.
The top is a red-cedar-like wood. The body and neck are made from the same intense hardwood, which looks a bit like cherry, but is much harder and much denser and thought it does not appear to be higly figured in the images, it has that magical translucent inner glow that has a name I can't remember, but is very similar to opalescense.

The overall construction is simply outrageous, the finish on the inside of the instrument is unbelievable.
And the construction details, especially the rosette and peghead inlay are probably beyond anything you have ever seen.
Note: Neither of these instruments is going to be cheap.
