I spent many years in custom boatbuilding. This is the left-over lead that never found its way into the bottom of any of the boats. Some was stuff I was saving for my own boat. Some was scrap that accumulated from fitting lead into other people's boats. Some of the ingots were used as shop fixtures in situations where vacuum-bagging was not as convenient as lead when one needed an instant supply of concentrated gravity. Most of this is very soft, high-purity antimony-free lead that cuts quite easily with an electric chain-saw and dents when struck with a hammer. Tyically it is what is known as "3-nines grade ". The sash weights are harder, and ring like metal when struck. My apologies that this particular page is not very up to date. Other parts of this selloff site have really taken off and some pages are getting literally thousands of hits a day and generating more email than I have time to handle. If you are looking for lead, send me email and tell me what you are looking for and I will tell you what I have.
